Slow Cooker Ham and Bean Soup
One of our favorite soups for chilly winter nights is this ham and bean soup you make in the crock pot. Coming home to the scents of ham, vegetables, and seasonings like garlic and onions is so welcoming. All it takes is some cubed ham, carrots, celery, cannellini beans, and chicken broth with a roux mixture of heavy cream, flour, and butter.
Brown the ham before adding all the ingredients except the roux to your crock pot and cook on high for three to four hours or on low for six to eight hours. Then, make your roux and add it to the pot. Mix well until it is thick. If it is too thick, you can add more warm chicken broth. Then cook for another 30 minutes before serving.
