Shrimp is the most popular seafood in the US with more than 1.7 billion pounds consumed per year! I know I probably eat about 30 pounds per year if not more because I love shrimp.

How much shrimp can you eat?

Not only is it delicious, but it is also versatile and affordable. You can go to any grocery store and get a pound of shrimp for less than $10 and there are so many different dishes that can be made with it.

National shrimp day

Nobody knows who started this special day or why, but shrimp has been around for thousands of years so why not celebrate it? May 10th is as good a day as any other!

Celebrate shrimp

On National Shrimp Day, I usually invite a group of friends and family over, and we all bring shrimp dishes to share. My favorites include shrimp salad, orange shrimp, champagne shrimp scampi, shrimp creole, and shrimp rolls.

shrimp salad

One of the most popular shrimp recipes on my blog, shrimp salad is crunchy, creamy, and full of flavors like garlic, lemon, and dill. It is great for picnics and barbecues.

shrimp rolls

Similar to shrimp salad, my shrimp rolls are made with creamy dressing and shrimp, served on soft brioche buns with pickles, mayo, green onions, and celery for a crunchy burst of goodness in every bite.

orange shrimp

My crispy orange shrimp is coated with sticky and sweet orange sauce. This shrimp dish is made with fresh orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, and mirin with sesame seeds and green onions on top.

champagne shrimp scampi

With a name like champagne shrimp scampi, you may expect this dish to be expensive and difficult to make. But it is pretty easy with linguine, lemon, cream, and champagne or prosecco.

Shrimp creole

This classic southern dish was made famous in New Orleans but is popular all over the world. It has a blast of intense flavors in including garlic, onion, hot sauce, creole seasoning, tomato sauce, and bell peppers.

Not only is it delicious and affordable, but shrimp is also healthy. Low in calories but high in protein, calcium, and omega 3, you get it all from this delicious shellfish.
