Hamburger Steaks:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons onion finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Mushroom Gravy:

  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms I used baby bella mushrooms
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper to taste


Hamburger Steaks:

  • Combine the steak ingredients, except olive oil, in a large bowl and stir until well mixed.
  • Shape the meat into 4-5 equal sized oval-shaped patties and set aside.
  • Place a large frying pan over high heat and add the oil.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the patties and cook 4-5 minutes per side or until nicely browned. Remove from the pan, place on a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.

Mushroom Gravy:

  • Reduce heat to medium-high and melt the butter in the same pan.
  • Add the mushrooms and onion, season with salt and pepper and cook stirrin for 5-6 minutes or until tender and browned.
  • Add the garlic and rosemary and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add the flour to the pan, stir constantly and cook for 1 minute.
  • Slowly add the beef broth and whisk until smooth.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until thickened.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add the hamburger steaks back to the pan, spoon sauce on top to coat themin the gravy.
  • Reduce heat to medoim-low and cook for another 5-7 minutes or until warmed through.
  • Sprinkle with parsley, fresh rosemary and serve.
