Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 drops purple gel food coloring
  • 5 drops green gel food coloring
  • 5 drops orange gel food coloring
  • 5 drops blue gel food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a mixing bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In the bowl of an electric stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, whip together butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg then the egg yolk and vanilla extract.
  • With mixer set on low speed, slowly add in dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  • Divide batter into bowls for the number of colors you want.
  • Add food coloring to each individual bowl and mix until all combined.
  • Chill for 30 minutes.
  • Roll into balls and dip in a bowl of powdered sugar.
  • Place on a greased cookie sheet and pat down a bit.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Add candy eyeballs while cookies are still warm.
