  • 6 cups fresh basil leaves stems removed
  • 1 cup pine nuts toasted for extra flavor if desired
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese


  • Add the basil leaves, garlic cloves, and pine nuts to a food processor and blend until the ingredients are finely minced.
  • With the food processor on low speed, gradually add the olive oil and blend until smooth.
  • Add the grated parmesan cheese, and blend by pulsating a few times, until just combined.
  • Scoop the pesto into a serving bowl and use on pasta, salad or as a dip.
