  • 3 cups Water
  • 2 cups Couscous
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Wheat or whole-wheat couscous:

  • As a rule of thumb, use 1 1/2 cups of water per 1 cup of couscous.

Cook the couscous:

  • Add water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil either on the stove or in the microwave.
  • Add the couscous, salt, olive oil, and butter into the boiling water, stir. Cover and let cook for 7 to 10 minutes.
  • When the granules have absorbed all the liquid, remove from the stove and fluff it up with a fork before serving.
