This Homemade French Toast is easy to make and uses simple pantry ingredients. It is one of our family's favorite breakfasts!

  • 6 slices of bread slightly stale
  • 3 tablespoons butter


  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • maple syrup butter, fruits


  • Whisk together Egg Mixture in a bowl until smooth and well mixed. 
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. 
  • Soak a piece of bread quickly into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Place in the pan. Repeat with more slices and cook for about 3 minutes on each side until the surface is golden, then transfer to serving plates. 
  • Add more butter into the pan and cook remaining bread slices. 
  • Serve with butter, maple syrup or fruits.
