Homemade Hummus Recipe
Homemade Hummus Recipe is fast and easy to make in less than 5 minutes in the food processor. It is smooth, nutty and tangy, with a perfect balance of fresh lemon and garlic.
Servings 10 servings
- 1 can (15oz) chickpeas or 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas
- 1 lemon juiced
- 1/4 cup tahini well-stirred
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil plus more for serving
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons water or more if needed
Open a can of chickpeas and add them to a colander. Rinse under cold water and drain.
Add all the ingredients, except water, to a 4 cup food processor. Process until the mixture is smooth and creamy, for about 1 minute.
Lift the lid of the food processor and taste the hummus. Add salt if needed. If the hummus is too thick, add 2-3 tablespoons of water. Process again until smooth and well combined.
Scoop the hummus into a serving bowl. Drizzle top with olive oil and sprinkle some paprika.
Serve with fresh crunchy veggies, pita bread or pita chips.
Store in the refrigerator covered with plastic wrap or in a container with the lid on. Stir before serving.
