  • 3 lbs sweet potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup cream or more
  • 1 cup greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Chopped parsley for garnish


  1. Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large saucepan or Dutch oven and add enough water to cover by about 1 inch.
  2. Add salt and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, until the potatoes are fork tender, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Drain well the water, leaving only the potatoes in the pot over medium-low heat. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the sweet potatoes to your desired consistency.
  5. Add melted butter, cream, maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir to combine. Add greek yogurt and stir to combine. If needed add more cream.
  6. Use a hand mixer to whisk the potatoes for about 1 minute to make them fluffier.
  7. Serve, topped with cubed butter and parsley.
