Making homemade candy does not have to be hard. For this sweet and chewy orange candy, you do not even need a candy thermometer. With just a few ingredients, you can have these candies finished in 30 minutes!

Here's What You Need

All you will need to make our tart and sweet chewy Orange Jelly Candy are these ingredients: -Freshly squeezed sour orange juice -White granulated sugar -Agar agar -Powdered sugar -Orange or yellow food coloring gel

STEP 1

To begin, use an orange juicer to squeeze one cup of orange juice from the sour oranges. Strain the juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove any orange pieces.

STEP 2

Next, mix agar agar, orange juice, and both sugars in a large saucepan. Stir well before adding food coloring. Then, cook on medium-high, stirring constantly, until it is boiling. After, lower the heat and let it simmer until thick, which takes four or five minutes.

STEP 3

Now, pour the mixture into a 10-inch pan lined with parchment and chill for two hours. Once it chills, cover 1/2 inch of the top edge and sprinkle powdered sugar on the rest. Cut the mix down the middle and make two logs. Slice into 1/2-inch pieces and they are ready to eat!
