First, preheat the oven to 350 F and grease a cake pan. Then, separate the egg whites from the yolks and beat the whites until stiff.
Next, in another large bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar for about 5 minutes or until frothy and light.
Now, grate the orange for zest and squeeze and filter the juice. Then, mix the zest, juice, butter, and almond extract with the egg yolks.
After, stir in the baking powder, potato starch, and almond flour with a rubber spatula. Then, fold in the egg whites gently.
Pour the batter into the cake pan, bake for 45 minutes, and let it cool completely in the pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and almond slices before stirring.
