Save money and get the freshest chicken by cutting up your own. All you need is a fresh chicken and some good kitchen shears or a sharp knife.

To cut your own chicken at home you need: -One whole chicken -Sharp kitchen shears or knife

STEP 1

First, slice the inner skin on the drumsticks and pull to pop the joint. Then, cut right between the joints. Repeat for the other leg. 

STEP 2

Next, turn the chicken on its side and cut off the wing. Flip it over and cut off the other one. 

STEP 3

Now, cut along the sides of the backbone and remove it. Slice the breasts in half, making four breast pieces.  

STEP 4

After, cut the legs into two pieces each by cutting behind the fat line closest to the drumstick. Use now or pack and freeze for later use.
